One thing Tim and I love about our job was wedding photographers is that we get to meet a lot of really great people. We feel incredibly blessed because we have awesome clients! We were reminded of that again as we shot Tania and Sal’s wedding last weekend (yeah…we’re a wee bit behind in our posting. Eeep.) Tania and Sal are just kind, genuine and easygoing people, and despite the busyness of the day they were drinking it all in and enjoying every moment. Their day started with big shindigs at each of their respective parents’ houses, where their close family and friends gathered for lunch and early celebration. Sal and his entourage of family and groomsmen then stopped by Tania’s place to greet her parents while Tania stayed hidden away inside. Following that, everyone made their way across town to Golf St-Raphael for the wedding ceremony and reception. A dramatic sky and the beautiful grounds of the golf course made a gorgeous backdrop for the ceremony and the photosession afterwards. I’m proud to say that I drove a golf cart for the very first time in my life although Tim did have to hang on for dear life as he snapped some shots of Tania and Sal driving behind us. The party was fun and rowdy with some truly emotional moments. All in all, it was a beautiful day – congratulations Tania and Sal! So Tim and I each saw this big beautiful tree right by the gazebo and on our own without consulting each other, composed a shot with it at around the same moment in the ceremony. We couldn’t agree on which one to blog so I put them both in! So…the question is, who do you think did it better? We can both get a bit competitive and we’re in a dead heat on this one….leave us a comment and let us know who you think got the shot better!

davina - We shot here on Saturday! I thought I recognized this place… good work!
I hate to be annoying and sit on the fence, but I can’t pick between the two… I like Tim’s because it draws the eye in towards the couple, but I like Angie’s because it sets the scene for the whole ceremony… so while they’re both similar, I feel that they both serve different purposes. Is this a good enough answer for ya?!
gamoon - i’m gonna be a bit more decisive even though i do agree with davina. i really like the height of ange’s photo and the overall scenery so i’m voting ange’s. gabe chose tim’s. he says tim’s has more focus. i guess it kind of reflects the female multi-tasking and liking to look at everythng and the male single mindedness and ability to focus in on one thing at a time.
Samuel - I’m going to say Tim’s shot, final answer.
With both shots, the tree as a frame is really great. Both the photos are lined at the bottom with the congregation but with Ange’s, I don’t think there is enough width and it gives the photo a compact feel.
I would really have enjoyed more spacing in it – the relative space taken by the branches/leaves puts the emphasis on it more. Maybe a landscape widelens shot with even more sky above the tree.
Y’all should do more of these interactive posts. It makes me want to keep following and makes me feel like my opinion despite total inexperience is worth considering – of course, my inexperience speaks for itself; it is hardly a valid consideration.

Elizabeth - Beautiful shots as always! I like a good competition too, so here’s my take. Your two ways of interpreting what you see is what make you such a killer team! I love how Tim uses the tree almost like a frame and it makes the ceremony look more intimate. The way Ange’s shot captures the clouds and gives the whole photo a heavenly feel, puts me over the edge and makes me vote for Ange’s by a little margin. Just for that heavenly touch that every wedding needs
Joelle - Although I like both shots for different reasons, I vote for Ange’s picture. I might not know much about photography, but there is just something soothing about Ange’s photo. It captures the congregation and the couple while at the same time capturing the entirety of the tree and the sky. I love the fading to black and white on the top right corner and I just feel like the picture comes full circle – human, tree and the infinite sky – its so poetic yet majestic at the same time. Love it!!!
Kelly - Hi Guys, great work! My vote is for Tim’s photo by a small margin. It was tough deciding as they both are well done. I like Tim’s though because of the way the whole photograph takes you around, drawing you to the couple. Angela, your photo is really good too, but the 2 guys standing distract me from the overall scene. Had they not been there, I think I might have chosen your photograph instead. Hope that helps! Ange - Thanks for the well-thought out comments everyone! Tim and I have enjoyed reading these even though neither of us can claim bragging rights just yet! You all make really great points – its great to hear the views from the non-photogs too, your comments provide just as much insight as the pros.
Aimee - Why do you make us do this? Next time don’t tell who shot it and it will be easier to pick a fave!
That said, I’m going to say Ange’s. Although I love how Tim framed with the tree, I find the all tops of the heads a bit distracting. I love Ange’s full shot, the clouds, treed valley, bride and groom, and of course the big tree. I could look at it for a long time and not get tired of it.
Tim, don’t hate me! I’m usually your biggest fan!:)
PS. I hear you liked our cow idea. We’ll have you over for some BBQ this fall, K?
Annie - I have to vote for Tim’s I really love the way the tree leads our eyes on the priest and then draw our attention to the couple. It looks like a very peaceful, poetic moment where time stop for a second.
Anne - Hmmmmm…. We were recently at the same place for a wedding.. What a beautiful location. Both photos were quite lovely… but I am voting for Angela’s photo.. Somehow, I expected them to be similar, but they were so different! And having said that.. and not being very ‘photographish’ (?)… I really liked the colour.. and the clouds.. they really commanded my attention. On that note, kudos to you both.. the photos were first rate, as usual!
