I love, love, love the fact that not every wedding has to be the same. We’ve shot weddings in ornate churches, on a top of a mountain, on a bluff overlooking the ocean and now, in a former converted industrial space in what some would consider a bleak part of town but to Ted and Brandy and us – a pretty cool space with lots of potential. Their wedding reflected them in every way – from the set-up of the room to the music they chose to dance to, to shooting the portraits on the rooftop after climbing a ladder through the manager’s office. Getting ready before the wedding consisted of Brandy and her her maid of honor Sharon chilling out to the sounds of Courtney Love warbling as they waited for their ride to Espace Reunion, and Ted doing some last minute sound checks before the ceremony – not your stereotypical bride and groom but two people who are perfect for each other and who wanted to commemorate the love they already share and their little family with the closest people in their lives. This is what weddings are all about – going beyond traditions and fanfare to be about making a life commitment and celebrating it with a joyous gathering of family and friends.
