STEPHANIE + CORY: MARRIED!

It was one of the hottest days of the summer, with the ceremony in a beautiful but un-airconditioned space – but when you get to spend the day with some pretty fantastic folks it all doesn’t matter. Part of what makes Cory and Stephanie so refreshing to be around is the fact that they are so true to who they are and at the same time so completely considerate to the people around them. Everything about their wedding – from Stephanie’s elegant gown to the Tom’s shoes that they gave to their bridal party, and the way the whole day was planned spoke volumes about how much they care about their guests (yes, even the very warm ceremony, which was short and sweet but totally heartfelt and emotional). Tim and I enjoyed spending the day with Cory and Stephanie and their family and friends – cracking up along with Stephanie every time we sprung open our reflector, groaning with the groomsmen as they patiently sweated through their suits and tearing up a bit when Cory gave his speech at dinner. Florence + Johnny: Married!

After shooting their engagement session a couple of months back, we knew that Florence and Johnny were laid back, easy to talk to and fun to be around, but we discovered at their wedding that these two are totally the life of the party!Along with their boisterous and rowdy bridal party, Tim and I had an eventful day starting with their first look, a bridal party photo shoot in the Old Port, and then the wedding ceremony, traditional Chinese tea ceremony and reception at Buffet Roma. There was a lot going on, but Florence and Johnny kept things lighthearted and a true celebration of their big day. On top of all the busyness going on, they always took a moment to stop, ask us how we were doing and making sure we were eating! Another reason why we think we have the awesomest clients. Rebecca + Omar: Married!

Surrounded by their closest friends and family on a gorgeous day in downtown Montreal, Rebecca and Omar tied that knot in downtown Montreal. It was a wedding where the traditional and the contemporary blended together – Rebecca and Omar said their vows in a traditional Catholic ceremony at Christ Church Cathedral, during which Omar’s brother played a soulful acoustic guitar solo between an organ accompanied hymn and an exhortation. During their cocktails, the joyous couple made their grand entrance into their cocktail area at Newtown on Cresecent ushered by musicians playing traditional Arabic instruments. And their jazz duo, on top of playing standards, broke into a little Radiohead during dinner. And I shouldn’t forget to mention the awesome shoes (Sketchers and Converse, respectively) that Rebecca and Omar donned shortly before the festivities of the evening. The things, and more importantly, the people that mattered most to these two were a big part of their incredible day. Check out some of favorite images below:

Ruby + Harvey: Married!

Honestly, speeches are often my favorite part of weddings. We leave the wedding feeling like we know our bride and groom just a little bit more, having been given an insight into their lives and the people that they are. And sometimes, the words and thoughts shared by those close to our brides and grooms’ hearts are a confirmation, a verbal affirmation of what we already know. One of the most poignant things said that night were that Ruby and Harvey are both people who are very comfortable in their own skin – why they are both so genuine, open and compassionate – and it rang true in every aspect of the day. They were both so anxious to see each other for their first look that when we captured them overjoyed to see each other for the first time on their wedding day, we might as well have not been there. Their traditional Jewish wedding ceremony was made more personal with their own touches and vows and afterward, they had one heck of a party which was made all the more lively with the Paul Chacra’s 1945 keeping the guests on the dancefloor most of the evening. And did their guests get their dance on – I’m talking shirts untucked, shoes thrown off and dinner-napkins-as-accessories kind of energy. And when the guests weren’t dancing, they were getting some truly awesome poses captured in our inaugural photobooth with props and costumes supplied by Ruby and her mom! Mildred + Thomas: Married!

Even a cold and wet spring day couldn’t put a damper on Mildred and Thomas’ wedding last weekend. As hundreds of excited and joyous guests gathered in a beautiful church in downtown Ottawa, anyone observer would have thought it a sunny and gorgeous day outside. The definitive word to describe this wedding – joy. It was a sentiment that resonated throughout the day, from the bridal party excitedly getting all prepped in the morning, to Mildred and Tom’s spirited recessional down the aisle post-ceremony, to the deeply heartfelt speeches by their siblings and bridal party, to the I’m-gonna-go-all-out dancing late in the reception. We had an awesome time with them and their friends and family, capping off a great day with some outdoor shots where their reception was held at the grand and stately Chateau Laurier. (Yes, it was almost snowing last weekend and Mildred and Tim were absolute troopers.) Check out some of our favorite images from their wedding!
