Harina + Kiri: Just Because

I have two words to describe the shoot with Harina and Kiri: Smokin’. HOT. After a flurry of e-mail and telephone exchanges we finally met these two in person downtown Montreal for their shoot. Looking totally fabulous and rocking out a few different looks, we hit the streets with them and had a blast – we love it when couples can just be totally comfortable in front of our lenses whether they’re striking a pose or letting themselves fall into a quiet moment – and look awesome through it all. It doesn’t have to be a momentous occasion in order to have your picture taken. I revel in the everyday, in its honesty and realness. So having the opportunity to capture a little family taking in a beautiful day in their home environment and just being themselves is a privilege for Tim and me. We took these images of Sophie, Francis and their adorable little boy Raphael in their neighbourhood, enjoying a balmy afternoon and loving just being a family. Some of our favorite shots below:

Tim and I want to wish all our readers a belated Merry Christmas and also a Happy New Year! The blog has been lacking an update in the past couple of weeks but we took some time off to travel, relax and see lots of family over the holidays. We’ve got a busy week ahead of us too – a photographer’s conference next week and then the Marions Nous wedding show in Place Bonaventure next weekend.

We’ve got quite a few shoots and a wedding in the wings waiting to be blogged, and I’ve got a year-end retrospective that I’m hoping to share with you by, er, the year end (if not January 1st!) but I leave you all now with a few shots from a really fun photoshoot that we did in early December with Aimee, Danny and their two darling little boys. Aimee who is the prolific blogger and gourmande extrodinare from Under the High Chair makes an appearance on our blog on a regular basis as we are good friends with the Bourques and big fans of her food. Tim and I have been privileged to photograph her family over the past couple of years and we delighted to do a shoot as an homage to the sadly-now-folded Gourmet magazine in time for the holidays. We set up our kitchen here at Tim Chin Photography like a studio and Aimee brought the concept, the yummy food and family to get that perfect shot that would capture the spirit of their family. If you think they all look a little Mad Men-esque (one of our favorite shows) it’s because that was the look we were going for. Looking at these images makes Tim and me smile so we’ve posted a few of them here – enjoy!

Just Because: The Ricks Family!

An adorable toddler, an upcoming 5 year wedding anniversary and a long awaited return trip to Montreal. We can’t think of a better way to commemorate all this than a photoshoot! I go way back with Debbie, when she was in Montreal attending McGill. She moved to Austin after graduating and met the love of her life Jamie. Tim and I and a whole posse of friends flew down to Houston to celebrate their wedding with them almost 5 years ago. A few years later they welcomed adorable little Daniel, whom Tim and I got to meet when they all visited earlier this month. He is a little ball of energy and full of smiles. We ended their photosession with some time with Debbie and Jamie alone who showed us that 5 years into marriage with a child, things are still as romantic as when they first got engaged! Bartek + Magda: Just Because…5 years and counting!

Wow. If a couple can look this hot after 5 years of marriage there is hope for all of us yet! Bartek and Magda, two talented photographers whom we are now proud to call our friends, celebrated their wedding anniversary a couple of weeks ago. As a surprise for Bartek, Magda got in touch with us for a special surprise photoshoot to commemorate their milestone. We had such a blast with these two – we started in Old Montreal, followed by a session out in Ile Perrot. We got lots of smokin’ shots of these two and at their end of the evening they picked up their darling little daughter and cute dog for a few shots. This was also our inaugural “Just Because” session – we love taking images of people in love, whether they’re getting married in a few months or have been married for many years!
