Kelly + Drew in NYC: Engaged!

While still in high school, before they started dating, Kelly declared that she was going to marry Drew. And here they are, years later, mere months away from tying the knot! We met up with Kelly and Drew in Central Park – the first time we ever met them in person actually, after months of contact via phone and e-mail, and fell into a easy familiarity right away. Charming, fun and outgoing, Kelly and Drew and gave us a little tour of the Upper West Side (their ‘hood) to boot! We are so very excited to be shooting their wedding in Lake Placid in the fall. Audrey + Michael: Engaged!

Sweet and gentle-natured are words that come to mind when I think of Audrey and Mike. We felt wonderfully relaxed around them, like we could take all the time we needed to get our shots. And they were incredibly patient as we stet up our shots, considering that we got to work with the very funky Queen West neighbourhood where Audrey and Mike live. We started things off in their residential complex before moving into a graffiti covered alleyway, making a quick stop by their local and oft-visited Starbucks before we ended the session in the neighbourhood park. I love it when we can shoot our couples in their home environment where they have a real connection with their surroundings. Check out some of our favorite images from their shoot below:

KHANH+JIMMY: ENGAGED!

We never thought that we’d hear the words “Do you think we can do our shoot in the rain? We’d like to get wet” from a bride and groom to be, but that’s the note we got from Jimmy and Khanh a week before their shoot. After considering what it entail for our gear we decided to end the shoot with them jumping into a fountain – without getting ourselves being escorted away by security obviously. Tim and I were totally excited for our shoot with Jimmy and Khanh – who not only look incredible together, but were super fun to be around and quite up for anything. Ironically we did caught in the rain during our shoot so we ducked inside a shopping mall and kept on shooting before emerging outside to a clear evening sky and finishing things off in the aforementioned fountain. GENEVIEVE+MARK: ENGAGED!

“I’m kind of nervous” Genevieve confessed when we met up for her and Mark’s shoot last weekend. It’s a sentiment that Tim and I hear a lot from our clients when we meet for their first shoot with us, because it is a little intimidating to have big shiny lenses pointed right at you when you’re supposed to be feeling all romantic. But after a few runs up and down the McGill Reservoir with their dog Spencer and catching some golden evening light, this sweet couple was warmed up and looking absolutely at ease, and fabulous- despite how they may have been feeling initially! We can’t wait to shoot their wedding in August – check out some of our favorite images from their session below:

EMILY+CARLOS : ENGAGED!

We did Carlos and Emily’s engagement shoot on a gorgeous summer evening. It was shortly after Tim and I had fought traffic on the 401 and arrived in Toronto – a little frazzled and stressed. But that all evaporated on our drive down to The Beach (don’t you just love that moniker?) with Carlos and Emily who were incredibly easy to talk to and laid back. We found a secluded stretch on pebbly beach and with the light all golden – soon enough Tim and I were right in our element – capturing this adorable couple just soaking in a fantastic afternoon. We wandered around Queen street closeby, in an eclectic neighbourhood that made us forget that we were actually in Toronto – except for a couple of streetcars that roared past – and of course we just had to grab a few shots of this city icon.
