STEPHANIE + CORY: MARRIED!

It was one of the hottest days of the summer, with the ceremony in a beautiful but un-airconditioned space – but when you get to spend the day with some pretty fantastic folks it all doesn’t matter. Part of what makes Cory and Stephanie so refreshing to be around is the fact that they are so true to who they are and at the same time so completely considerate to the people around them. Everything about their wedding – from Stephanie’s elegant gown to the Tom’s shoes that they gave to their bridal party, and the way the whole day was planned spoke volumes about how much they care about their guests (yes, even the very warm ceremony, which was short and sweet but totally heartfelt and emotional). Tim and I enjoyed spending the day with Cory and Stephanie and their family and friends – cracking up along with Stephanie every time we sprung open our reflector, groaning with the groomsmen as they patiently sweated through their suits and tearing up a bit when Cory gave his speech at dinner. VIRGINIE+JORDAN : MARRIED!

It wasn’t a typical wedding scene that greeted Tim and me when we arrived at the Lac Carling Hotel in the Lower Laurentiens: the bridal party was enjoying the sun on the dock and swimming, wedding guests dressed in their finest t-shirts and shorts were wandering the grounds and snacking on cheese and wine by the lake. Virginie and Jordan were all smiles and the picture of relaxation when we caught up with them. Make no mistake though – mere hours later, the same guests were dressed to the nines and the bridal party the picture of elegance as the ceremony unfolded by the lake, preceded by Jordan and his brother arriving via canoe. What? you say, by canoe? That’s right – this was no ordinary wedding. Virginie and Jordan are true individuals who do things their way and with purpose, making the proceedings of the day wonderfully intimate and a whole lot of fun. It was evidenced from the green socks and personalized cufflinks that each of the groomsmen wore, to the red clown noses that all the guests donned for the group photo, to the printed family trees on every table to familiarize guests with each other to Virginie’s singer-songwriter cousin taking the stage late at night to serenade the crowd. I could go on but I’ll let the images tell the story. Enjoy!

STEPHANIE+MORRIS : MARRIED!

A few weekends ago we shot Stephanie and Morris’ lovely wedding, held at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral downtown Montreal. It was a lovely, traditional event with musicians serenading their families at their respective homes, getting the festive mood going before the ceremony. Although it rained during the ceremony, nothing could dampen Stephanie and Morris’ mood – both of them in fantastic spirits throughout the day, both of them looking radiant – and Stephanie’s one-of-a-kind gown was absolutely beautiful. J+I: MARRIED!

Traditions actually mean something when you take things to heart. And even though J and I’s very traditional Jewish wedding took place on a retreat center an hour out of town tucked away in the countryside, everything about it was incredibly heartfelt and meaningful and moving. It was a large wedding with many many guests – and yet there was a sense of intimacy throughout the day as everyone who was there were connected to the lives of the bride and groom. J and I were faithful to their beliefs and the principles they hold important in their lives in all the aspects of planning the wedding day and that’s what made it so beautiful – the authenticity. There are so many more adjectives I could use to describe their incredible, high energy and joyous day but I’ll leave the images to do the storytelling. Enjoy!

Florence + Johnny: Married!

After shooting their engagement session a couple of months back, we knew that Florence and Johnny were laid back, easy to talk to and fun to be around, but we discovered at their wedding that these two are totally the life of the party!Along with their boisterous and rowdy bridal party, Tim and I had an eventful day starting with their first look, a bridal party photo shoot in the Old Port, and then the wedding ceremony, traditional Chinese tea ceremony and reception at Buffet Roma. There was a lot going on, but Florence and Johnny kept things lighthearted and a true celebration of their big day. On top of all the busyness going on, they always took a moment to stop, ask us how we were doing and making sure we were eating! Another reason why we think we have the awesomest clients.
