Patricia+Frank:Married! | Ottawa Wedding Photography

The nature of our job has us attending a lot of weddings. But many times, the only people we know in the room are the bride and groom, and while we love all our clients, sometimes we forget what it’s like to be a guest at a wedding of a good family friend. The best way I can describe it is that it’s like stepping into a time machine. On the other side of this time machine are friends that you grew up with, but haven’t seen in 5 or 10 or 20 years. Everyone is a little greyer, has a little less hair, or maybe – as in my case – a little bit rounder. We’ve grown up, gotten married ourselves, had kids and our parents are enjoying retirement. There’s a strange and comfortable feeling in these types of crowds, as if you’re breathing air from childhood in the company of these old friends – recognizable and strange all at the same time like a road that veers off only to intersect with itself again – a kind of nostalgic unfamiliarity.

All this aside though, it is so easy to see how Patricia and Frank simply just ‘fit’. They are both smart, responsible and generous souls eager to laugh and willing to enjoy what life has to give them. Their day was beautiful and perfect, the ceremony and reception were held at the brand spanking new digs of the Ottawa Convention Centre. And though I don’t have quite the same history with Frank, I do know enough about Patricia to know that she doesn’t make mistakes!

As an old friend myself, I must say how deeply happy I am that they’ve found each other and truly excited for what the future has in store for them.

Here are a few of our favourite images from the day:

Ellen+Ryan: Married! | Vermont Wedding Photography

One of the things we’ll remember most from Ellen and Ryan’s wedding were the glances and beaming smiles they kept exchanging through their hour long wedding ceremony. There was something so sweet and meaningful about those small moments that stood out even in a day and evening full of big, happy moments – the audible gasps as Ellen showed her bridemaids her dress; the raucous laughter as speeches were shared and fake noses and glasses were donned by the bridal party; the non-stop high energy dancing that stretched into the night. The Ponds at Bolton Valley in Vermont was the perfect idyllic setting for a gathering of Ellen and Ryan’s closest friends and family. The gorgeous details and decor were done with the utmost care by Ellen’s aunt, which just made everything all the more meaningful. Tim and I felt like such a part of the proceedings – from the warmth we felt as walked in the door to Ellen’s parent’s house to the conversations we were having with different guests throughout the night. It all just underscored what a genuinely sweet couple Ryan and Ellen are and how much they are loved. Some of our favorite images below:

Alice Waxler - I knew your photographs were going to be beautiful because I had admired your work before we hired you. What you gave us was pure magic!!! I was in tears looking at the intimacy that you captured in these photo’s,the love, the relationships and the pure joy that made Ellen and Ryan’s wedding day so very special. Each picture we looked at we claimed as our favorite until the next picture came into view. I don’t know how we are ever going narrow down our choices for the wedding album. Lastly you two were a pleasure to have among our family, you blended in so beautifully and made everyone so at ease, as is so clearly demonstrated with your photographs. Thank you so much for all your tireless work. Luckily I have two more daughters so we will definitely see more of you in the future!!:)
