Just a word of warning, y’all. It’s going to be a long post, so brace yourselves. It’s Tim’s brother after all!
We sped down the 401 last Thursday out of Montreal like a bat out of hell after a frustrating morning of packing and running way too many errands to try to make it on time for rehearsal and dinner in Scarborough. Lucky for us, the OPP always had some other poor speeder caught already. Phew. (Not that we’re advocating speeding. Don’t. Do. It.) It was a nice weekend spent with family, folding wedding programs, frantic speechwriting (for Tim and his siblings anyway) and eating. Oh, and sweating. It was hot in Toronto. Crazy, ridiculous hot. All I have to say is that I was never more thankful to be a girly girl wearing a strappy dress because it kinda sucked to be a man in a three-piece suit.
Dave and Joanie had a lovely wedding that was meticulously planned to meet their fairy-tale theme. Although it was hot, the skies were clear and made for wonderful pictures. We snapped as much as we could, given that Tim was the best man, and well, two Canon 5D’s and a big bazooka-like 70-200mm F2.8 lens isn’t exactly a sexy accessory to a breezy floral print dress. Plus I really didn’t want to be in the way of D&J’s hired photographer, who was super nice, and also preggers. Kudos to her!
It was really hard to pick under 20 shots for this post, but here goes! I took a few shots in the morning as Dave and the guys were getting ready:
Dave and Joanie wrote their own vows:
Tim snapped one of me rehearsing a couple of songs with two of Dave’s good friends (that’s Jesse on the guitar and Rob on the piano) before the ceremony:
Anticipating the arrival of his bride….
…make that a princess bride! Joanie looked absolutely gorgeous. I shot this from my seat off to the side with our brand new 70-200mm F2.8 IS L lens. Lurve it.
I snuck to the back of the sanctuary to take this shot before hurrying back before the signing of the registry to sing.
Ever thoughtful, Dave and Joanie thanked all who helped with the wedding and gave them all gifts after their speech.
Joanie’s younger brother and groomsman to Dave, Enoch took on Let’s-Keep-the-Veil-From-Sailing-Off-Into-The-Atmosphere duty.
Later on, I myself would make a spectacular save when the veil came off Joanie’s head and nearly escaped to the skies before I deftly caught with my free hand. Too bad no one caught that on camera!
The girls checking out the wedding bling:
Joy’s husband, Matt, was kind enough to take a photo of Tim and I:
One flower pot for every guest carrying their escort card (ie, directing you to your table for the reception):
Missy (my sister-in-law) gave a beautiful speech about Dave and Joanie:
Some wedding game shenanigans:
They had to kiss as long as this guy was doing the hula hoop:
We met the lovely and wickedly funny Sharon, who is a self-confessed stalker of our blog. Good to know we have fans who remember our most recent posts and can quote my witty remarks back to me!
Sharon was actually taking video during the wedding, but photography is definitely her bag. You can check out her work here . Now you’ll have to leave us comments, Sharon!
Oh, and for those who are wondering, Tim’s speech went really well
Congratulations Dave and Joanie – hope you guys have a great honeymoon and we’ll see you when you get back!
