The color red was everywhere at Tran and Maggie’s engagement party last weekend, or as it is called in Cantonese “Guo Dai Lai” – a Chinese wedding tradition where the groom’s family will present the bride’s family with lavish gifts (mostly of the edible kind) as well as a roasted pig. Not all Chinese families will do this tradition, but its a wonderful way for two families to come together before the big wedding day, and hey – who can’t resist a good party and lots of food?
