I don’t even know where to begin with this wedding…the fact that in lieu of a fancy limo, the processional down the rocky mountain top aisle was preceded by a 10 minute gondola ride; the gorgeous Lake Placid setting; the international guest list…but at the centre of it all was Julianne and Pieter, a truly remarkable couple. Tim and I hit it off with this vivacious duo when we shot their engagement session back in May – not only are they incredibly friendly and fun, but they are very thoughtful and had carefully planned out details for their big event. Julianne and Pieter had invited us to come to their rehearsal party, so Tim and I stopped by to check out the Olympic-themed costumed bash and meet some of their family and partake in the merriment. The next day – with everyone brimming with excitement – Pieter and Julianne exchanged the vows they wrote themselves on the mountaintop. The families on both sides were close-knit – everyone in Julianne’s family had a nickname by which they were almost exclusively referred as throughout – and the many funny, poignant and touching speeches shared at the reception underscored how perfect Pieter and Julianne are for each other.
I could go on about the scenic Adirondack backdrop for the ceremony, the view of the lake from their hotel and view of the mountains from the Whiteface Lodge where the reception was held, but I’ll let the pictures tell the story of the day.
