Despite an exceedingly long wait for make-up at the salon on the morning of her wedding, Sheila was patient, gracious, and above all – excited. It was quite a journey that brought her and Mikhail to this much-anticipated day – a long distance relationship and engagement, uncertainty about where their academic paths would leave them geographically after the wedding. Determined to see things through and staying hopeful, circumstances have it that they are now starting their married life truly together after having lived in separate cities for so long.
They got married at Montreal Chinese Alliance Church – our church where Tim and I watched Sheila grow up – and threw a reception party at the Hall of Mirrors at the Musee de Beaux-Arts. It was a gorgeous, albeit hot, summer day and I give the bridal party much props for standing outside for some photos in their formal attire with the heat reflecting off the concrete and no breeze whatsoever to be had. I think seeing how radiantly joyful Sheila and Mikhail were to be married to each other put everyone in a great mood – heat, high heels and all. Here are some of our favorites from their wedding:
I love Laurin’s (Sheila’s sister and maid of honor) expression when she saw Sheila with her hair done and veil on for the first time:
She then had the limo drive to a Wendy’s pickup window to grab a quick bite before getting ready:
