There’s something really special about returning to the place where you first met to get married. It’s even more awesome when said place is an eco-resort in Tobago, a real jewel of an island in the Caribbean.
Tim and I spent a few rowdy days with Rudhra, Mai and their friends at Footprints Eco Resort in Tobago. Being on the oceanside property was inspiring – lush greenery, towering bluffs and the roar of the ocean greeted us when we arrived several days prior and aside from a few brief but worry-inducing rainstorms, the weather was perfect. On top of that, Tobago also has its share of pristine postcard-worthy white sand beaches so we had anĀ embarrassmentĀ of riches as far as photographers go. Oh, and did I mention the rowdiness? With friends and family who had flown in to be by their side, the wedding was pretty much an extended multi-day celebration. Tim and I had an awesome time hanging out with everyone – Rudhra, Mai and their friends made us feel so welcome and a part of all the fun. (Of course, having a few drinks here and there probably helped. Hee.)
The emotional ceremony was held on a bluff overlooking the ocean. I loved that Mai and Rudhra went full-out on their attire despite the sweltering tropical heat – Mai looked stunning in her gorgeous dress and Rudhra was looking sharp in a black three-piece suit. In fact, we have to give props to all the groomsmen who all donned three piece suits. That’s devotion for you! The reception was held at Footprints, al fresco under a starry sky where following a series of funny, poignant and emotional speeches they all danced the night away.
Here are some of our favorite images from the wedding day:
Best. Moment. Ever.
Mai’s sister couldn’t make it to the wedding so she sent a videotaped message all the way from Korea:
The very next day, with Mai and Rudhra being awesome sports and getting dressed up all over again, we headed to Pigeon Point Beach for some more pictures:
Despite the fact that Mai and Rudhra asked their friends not to get them any gifts, they all nonetheless pooled together and got them a stay at one of the premier luxury resorts in Tobago. Tim and I were lucky enough to be with them when they got dropped off at their villa, and we got to hang out for a bit and take in this amazing view from the deck:
