A family anxiously waiting downstairs in the living room as the bride had the finishing touches applied in a room above: this was the scene I walked into at the start of Philippe and Kar Mee’s big day. Kar Mee told me that she was excited that she couldn’t sleep all night. It was a sweet, emotional wedding without any fuss to detract from what the day was all about: two people simply committing to each other in front of their closest family and friends. With the ceremony held at the Palais de Justice and the reception held the Holiday Inn Select in Chinatown, the wedding was a beautiful blend of two cultures; paying respect to time-honored Chinese customs and getting the party revved up in true Quebecois fashion.
