At one point during Yves and Elise’s wedding ceremony in the Notre Dame Basilica in Old Montreal I looked up from my camera at their families and friends assembled in the front few rows. Within the ornate soaring structure of the church, there was not a single dry eye. Siblings teared up during the readings of familiar passages of Scripture often heard at weddings. Elise and Yves have been together for a long time and everyone from their parents to their neices and nephews were so genuinely excited and happy to witness their marriage. The joy lasted throughout the day and into the evening and it got pretty emotional in the dining room during the speeches. “I kind of wanted to cry too,” Tim told me later that night, “and I didn’t even totally understand what was being said!” as they were shared in French. The deep devotion that Elise and Yves had for their loved ones and for each other simply transcended language.
The wedding was full of beautiful details too – Elise’s bouquet and all the boutonieres were lovingly crafted by her very talented uncle. A piece of lace from her gorgeous gown was sewn onto the ring pillow and Yves cufflinks were custom made with a picture in memory of their beloved dog. The reception was held at the elegant Mount Stephen Club dining room and dancing and merriment prevailed into the night. It was a beautiful wedding for two really amazing people. Elise et Yves, nous sommes tellement heureux pour vous! Here are some of our favorite images from their day:
