There were a few things that Stephanie and Morris really wanted to have for their e-shoot: a lighthouse, a beachy waterfront and boats. I figured we could deliver on those requests – after all, our fair city is an island. And, its not like they were asking for beach umbrellas and a circus tent (which oddly enough, one would be able to find at certain points of the year in and around town. But I digress).
So thanks to Google and Streetview, Tim and I actually found a lighthouse on a pier in Lachine and by the watefront, a series of docks with boats. Perfect! Except…that when we arrived on location, said pier with the lighthouse was packed with would-be fishermen and their pick-up trucks enjoying a fine fall afternoon. And there nary a boat in sight, with it being so late in the year. As for the beach, a peninsula’s rocky shore that we all accessed by scrambling around a fence did the job.
However – a lack of boats and crowded pier aside, Stephanie and Morris were absolutely fun to work with. We traded jokes and laughs as we wandered around the waterfront, enjoying a rare warm late autumn afternoon. There’s an easy and comfortable rapport between Stephanie and Morris – all we had to do was ask them to pull in close and the wide smiles came right out. We’re looking forward to shooting their wedding next year – check out some of our favorite images below:
Oh, that Morris. We suggested taking a solo portrait of him and before we knew it, he went and climbed up that beam before Tim decided which lens to use! That’s how we already know that we’re going to have such a blast with him and Stephanie at their wedding next year.
