We took a trip down to the City That Never Sleeps last weekend, spending some much needed quality time with Tim’s mom and his siblings (and sibling in law!). We’re scattered between Toronto, Kitchener, Ottawa and Montreal so aside from holidays we don’t usually gather all together – we needed a bit of an escape and some serious hang-out time so a whirlwind weekend taking in the sights and sounds of New York was just the ticket. We had a nice time, from navigating Times Square and its seemingly overwhelmed and sensory-overloaded tourist masses, to tucking in a delicious market-fresh dinner in a tiny restaurant in SoHo and admiring the New York turn of the century architecture while taking a bus cross-town. I have to say, my mother-in-law is a resilient lady who despite some major knee issues, didn’t complain as we walked all around town, endlessly going up and down multiple flights of stairs to catch the subway from one locale to the next.
So no pretty wedding pics today, but as we’ve shared in an earlier post Tim and I are committed to taking more pictures of our families and cherishing every single second we get to spend with them. In the past we’ve been pretty bad at taking pictures on trips in general – in fact we totally revert to taking tourist snaps, but we were a lot more deliberate this time around. Thanks for reading and looking!
