It is incredibly refreshing to be around people who are free spirited and not afraid to be true to themselves – and take risks. And its certainly makes for an exciting shoot – I never thought I would be standing by the edge of the Lachine canal and watch in a strange mixture of shock and fascination to watch a client prepare himself to jump into the water to retrieve his runaway hat that been blown right into the canal, as if it were the most normal thing to do in the world. Luckily we had our extendable lightstand which saved the day, and kept him from getting completely soaked (but probably would not have put an end to the shoot, knowing the two of them now!) “You should know, this is not surprising of him” J. told us wryly as I. was removing his shoes, socks and valuables from his pockets.
It would be an understatement to say that Tim and I had a blast doing this shoot. From shrugging off getting heckled by a rowdy stranger at the start of the shoot, to offering to jump of a wall, taking a ride in an abandoned shopping cart on the street and running down the middle of a bridge – J. and I. let go and had fun on a fantastically sunny (and windy) afternoon and allowed Tim and I the privilege of capturing them at their best: just being themselves. Can’t wait to shoot their wedding next month!
