Traditions are important. They tell of our roots, bring symbolism and meaning to rites and allow us to share in the history of those who have come before us. It is especially beautiful when tradition is mixed with modern and with things that are deeply personal. So “because its always done this way” becomes “because it matters to me.” I loved so many aspect of Harry andFotini’s wedding – her vintage inspired look with her hair and makeup and dress; her bouquet made of brooches that had in it a picture of her grandmother – in loving memory. A traditional Greek send-off for the bride followed by an intimate and private first look between Fotini and Harry. The wedding ceremony that took place in an Orthodox church, officiated almost entirely in Greek – by the very same priest who had baptized Fotini as a baby. At the reception, traditional Greek music was played at full volume – by members of Harry’s band, with several cameo appearances by his mother. Even the hall, a modern reception space was transformed into a veritable garden. There was so much of Harry and Fotini’s personalities injected into the day that truly made it a different kind of Greek wedding. And the emotions they had! Capturing such immense joy is what Tim and I are all about and we were so happy to be a part of their day.
