Whether intended or not, often the wedding day carries a lot of stress, not necessarily in a bad way, but there is something of a definite weight and magnitude of the event and its importance. However, when it comes to the point in the evening where the dancing begins – and many times this is signalled by the bride and groom’s first dance – the room is lifted on a sort of cloud, the spirit of the place changes somehow and everyone becomes burdenless for the rest of the night. Fun ensues and enjoyment is palpable.
I love it when a bride and groom take the opportunity during their first dance to present themselves as the newly married couple. There’s a confidence that is shared, and then an invitation to participate in the marriage that follows. It is like an unveiling of this new beginning.
