TIMCHIN PHOTOGRAPHY & DESIGN: THE BLOG! bio picture
  • Welcome to our corner of the world!

One part pensive, one part quirky - we are Tim and Angela Chin, a husband and wife team of photographers who are all about pursuing the defining moments and making them into striking, lasting images. We love stretching our creativity and are passionate about finding beauty in everyone and everything. And this is our blog!

In this, our little piece of the web, we'll be sharing our latest work, news and updates about our studio, stories about the awesome people we get to meet and photograph...and our very own theory about the "Numbers" on Lost and how that's related to meaning of life. Alright, well...you'll find everything except that last bit.  Come by and visit us often or better yet, subscribe via RSS. And leave us your comments...we
love hearing from all of you!

Kelly + Drew in NYC: Engaged!

While still in high school, before they started dating, Kelly declared that she was going to marry Drew. And here they are, years later, mere months away from tying the knot! We met up with Kelly and Drew in Central Park – the first time we ever met them in person actually, after months of contact via phone and e-mail, and fell into a easy familiarity right away. Charming, fun and outgoing, Kelly and Drew and gave us a little tour of the Upper West Side (their ‘hood) to boot! We are so very excited to be shooting their wedding in Lake Placid in the fall. Check out some of our favorite shots of this gorgeous couple below:

Mehrab + Indhani in NYC: Engaged!

Tim had only met Mehrab once before, so we just knew that things were off to a fantastic start when we met up with him and Indhani in the SoHo Dean and Deluca and they both gave us big bear hugs. From that point onwards, it felt like we had already known them for ages. Mehrab and Indhani are just adorable together, and there is such a tangible and deep connection that is so obvious between them – in they way they smiled at each other and pulled each other each close. It was a sweltering, humid New York afternoon but they didn’t seem to be fazed by it at all. But perhaps it was due to the fact that Mehrab  practically had a hole burning in his pocket – after we did a series of shots in SoHo, we headed to Times Square where he dropped on one knee and surprised Indhani with an incredible engagement ring. Yes folks, they are already engaged to be married, but Indhani is such a practical gal that she has asked for a MacBook at the time in lieu of a ring. But you know what? I don’t know any girl who wouldn’t love some gorgeous bling, especially when its from the love of her life in the middle of one her favorite places in the world – Times Square in New York City. Tim and I who were let in on the surprise just moments before it all went down, felt incredible privileged to be able to capture it all. We’re even more excited to be shooting their wedding in the fall! Check out our favorite images from their shoot below:

Audrey + Michael: Engaged!

Sweet and gentle-natured are words that come to mind when I think of Audrey and Mike. We felt wonderfully relaxed around them, like we could take all the time we needed to get our shots. And they were incredibly patient as we stet up our shots, considering that we got to work with the very funky Queen West neighbourhood where Audrey and Mike live. We started things off in their residential complex before moving into a graffiti covered alleyway, making a quick stop by their local and oft-visited Starbucks before we ended the session in the neighbourhood park. I love it when we can shoot our couples in their home environment where they have a real connection with their surroundings. Check out some of our favorite images from their shoot below:

STEPHANIE + CORY: MARRIED!

It was one of the hottest days of the summer, with the ceremony in a beautiful but un-airconditioned space – but when you get to spend the day with some pretty fantastic folks it all doesn’t matter. Part of what makes Cory and Stephanie so refreshing to be around is the fact that they are so true to who they are and at the same time so completely considerate to the people around them. Everything about their wedding – from Stephanie’s elegant gown to the Tom’s shoes that they gave to their bridal party, and the way the whole day was planned spoke volumes about how much they care about their guests (yes, even the very warm ceremony, which was short and sweet but totally heartfelt and emotional). Tim and I enjoyed spending the day with Cory and Stephanie and their family and friends – cracking up along with Stephanie every time we sprung open our reflector, groaning with the groomsmen as they patiently sweated through their suits and tearing up a bit when Cory gave his speech at dinner. Fantastic moments from a great day – check out our favorite images below:
